The middle one of a row of three, its charming, beamed interior has been refurbished to a high standard, and it is within walking distance of the village’s shops and two inns (serving meals). It is about 10 minutes’ drive to the RSPB reserve at Surlingham Church Marsh. The historic city of Norwich (8 miles) offers excellent shopping, as well as fine museums and sports facilities. Accommodation overview: Originally the old rectory, this Grade II listed, 17th-century house stands as one of a pair, and has been fully restored to provide a very grand and elegant country house within a rural setting. The house itself is mainly Georgian and part Tudor, and is set in one acre of delightful mature gardens, which make an ideal retreat for taking a pleasant stroll in the evening after dinner. The holiday property has many original and unusual features, including a grand piano in the entrance hall, full length murals in the conservatory and main bathroom, as well as open fire, wood-burning stove, natural wooden floors and a bespoke kitchen/family room. All the rooms have a bright, airy feel to them. The sumptuous furnishings and colour schemes add further to the feel of the house. There is a canopied antique four-poster bed in the master bedroom and an antique iron and brass bed in another. Wortham is a traditional village with a friendly pub, teashop and post office/store, as well as a tennis club. The historic town of Bury St Edmunds with its Georgian streets and flower gardens makes for an enjoyable day out, with Diss and the Waveney Valley also close by. The Suffolk Heritage Coast is easily accessible and the most popular seaside resorts, Aldeburgh and Southwold are traditional towns with plenty of attractions for all the family. Thetford Forest, Ipswich and the region’s capital, Norwich are all within easy driving distance and well worth the visit. Many picturesque villages beg discovery locally. Shops and pub 1 mile.
