Accommodation overview: Dumfries & Galloway is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland.  There are over 200 miles of dramatic coastline, rolling hills, mountains, rivers, moorland and forest; in fact everything you could want is right here on your doorstep! The village of Dalton is a small settlement about 10 miles south east of Dumfries and 4 miles south of Lockerbie.  Dalton is ideally placed for some of the county's main attractions. Why not visit Caerlaverock Castle one of the finest in Scotland.  Drumlanrig Castle in beautiful Nithsdale; the World Famous Old Blacksmith's at Gretna.  There are numerous other attractions all within a 20 mile radius.  Spare some time to visit Dumfries where Robert Burns spent the last five years of his life and walk across the 15th Century Devorgilla bridge.  In the centre of the town is the Midsteeple which was built as a meeting place, courtroom and prison. Don't forget to visit the fascinating Camera Obscura.
