Accommodation overview: From the minute visitors cross the causeway it is obvious that a stay on Osea Island is something really unique, making it ideal for family celebrations, a get together with friends or a relaxing holiday in peaceful surroundings. The services of a chef can also be arranged to make light of the cooking chores. The Manor House, standing detached, was built around 1900 in the style of a grand Edwardian seaside residence. It is set 25ft above sea level with breathtaking views along the beach and across the estuary.
The interior has been sympathetically restored capturing the charm of the period, with the addition of some modern features. All bedrooms have been designed with great style for maximum comfort, featuring four poster and antique beds with Egyptian cotton bed linen, 42 plasma screen TV/DVD, with bathrooms furnished in classic Edwardian style throughout. Soak up the atmosphere looking out to sea in front of an open fire in the drawing room, or enjoy a celebration meal in the dining room where the dining table is also a full-size billiard table. The Manor House has its own salt water swimming pool and there is also a second outdoor heated pool in the village.
Osea Island has a rich and diverse history, mentioned in the Domesday book, The causeway was built by the Romans, later the island was owned by many powerful and titled families. In 1903 Osea was purchased and developed by brewery owner and philanthropist Frederick Charrington. Osea is now a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of its unique ecology, rare plants, birds and marine life. The district has become the centre for classic sailing boats, such as the Blackwater Barges taking part in the Osea Islands Regatta.
