Accommodation overview: Nestled within the friendly village of Lowick this former smithy has undergone total renovation to provide holiday accommodation to a superior standard. This property is sublime! So many beautiful, natural materials have been cleverly used to enhance its luxurious ambience. The open plan living space oozes charm and character with its exposed beams, wooden flooring and a stunning stone built feature fireplace where the wood burning stove ensures a cosy welcome awaits guests to The Smithy whatever the season. The property is immaculately presented throughout and with three double bedrooms and three contemporary bathrooms it gives well appointed accommodation for the gathering of family and friends or for those couples looking for somewhere special. Lowick is located 8 miles north east of the welcoming small town of Wooler, found snuggled at the foot of the wild, heather capped expanses of the Cheviot Hills, at the gateway to the Northumberland National Park and where several good restaurants, shops and pubs are available. This is a popular destination for those who enjoy cycling, hang gliding, golf, horse riding and walking - the challenging route of the St Cuthbert's Way runs close by. The surrounding area, with its spectacular scenery is known locally as Glendale - the inspiration for Postman Pat's 'Greendale'. Chatton Trout Fishery invites amateur anglers to fish without a rod licence in a picturesque 4 acre lake close by. The elegant Georgian town of Berwick, which straddles the salmon rich River Tweed is only 10 miles north and the cobbled, market town of Alnwick, protected by its own dramatic fortress, which is home to the Duke of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potter's Hogwart's Academy!) offers a wide array of amenities to the south. Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction to experience the Grand Cascade Waterfall and dine in the restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe. The tidal island of Lindisfarne (known locally as Holy Island) is only 8 miles away; it's swept by the North Sea but safe to cross twice daily via a causeway. The Smithy offers luxurious accommodation and is an excellent base to discover the sweeping golden, sandy beaches and dramatic castles and ruins for which this heritage coastline is renowned for coupled with easy access to explore the rugged wild and lonely moors and hills within the stunning countryside across North Northumberland
