Accommodation overview: In the heart of the Rousdon Estate (one of the great Victorian estates in Britain and formerly a public school), Seabiscuit is 1/2 mile from the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline and the Dorset Coastal Path. This corner stable courtyard cottage adjacent to the mansion, is well presented and lovingly restored, and offers excellent accommodation. Stunning scenic walking can be enjoyed along the coast, as well as amongst the rolling hills on the many miles of local countryside footpaths. Guests have the freedom to explore the walks on this 350-acre estate and anyone with a taste of adventure can walk down the steep pathway to the estate’s private beach and nature reserve, spend time fossil hunting or simply relax in this wonderful location. Within easy driving, just 21/2 miles away, is the popular seaside resort of Lyme Regis, famous for its role in the film The French Lieutenant’s Woman, with its pretty Cobb, beach and shops. Popular for visits are the towns of Seaton, Sidmouth, Bridport and the quaint villages of Branscombe and Beer. Axminster has a sports complex offering swimming and various other facilities. There are also many attractions to visit and historic houses such as Forde Abbey and Gardens, and Loughwood Meeting House. Shop and hotel restaurant/bar ¼ mile.
