Accommodation overview: Trillgate is a stunning Grade II listed Tudor house set in an elevated and completely private location. The house has an abundance of light and character with its large stone mullioned windows, flagstone and wooden floors, inglenook fireplaces and beamed ceilings. It has a large open plan kitchen, as well as two living rooms both with wood-burning stoves. The owner lives within the grounds, and situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the house itself sits in 2 acres of its own land laid mainly to lawn with well stocked borders and a pretty orchard with apple, pear, walnut, plum and sweet chestnut trees. Trillgate is surrounded by hilly countryside with deep valleys whose green slopes are a patchwork of small fields, hedgerows and woodland, this is the same valley as Laurie Lee’s Cider with Rosie. A long winding drive leads to a large car parking area to the side of the property and there is additional car parking further up the track (total parking for more than 20 cars). The garden is mostly south facing with breathtaking views and has lots of garden furniture.
As well as enjoying the peace and serenity of the cottage and gardens, there is plenty to see and do in the area. For keen walkers there is the Cotswold Way and many beautiful shorter walks around the house; there are six circular walks (a map and directions for theses are supplied in the welcome pack). Painswick, with its individual shops, art gallery and impressive churchyard, is only a short drive away. The numerous well-known Cotswold towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-on-the-Marsh make for a good day out. Regency Cheltenham and Georgian Bath are excellent locations for a visit whilst Bristol and Gloucester cathedrals make for an interesting outing. Stroud has a wide range of useful amenities. Slad is 1mile, with shops and the very popular Woolpack Inn which serves very good food and local ales, has a beer garden and is dog friendly.

Spacious beamed living room with wood-burning stove and wooden floor. Sitting room. Beamed kitchen with larder, large dining table (can seat 12+), wood-burning stove and impressive views down the valley. Steep stone spiral stairs to first floor: Two double bedrooms, each with TV; one with en-suite bathroom with separate shower cubicle and toilet. Further double bedroom with sled-style bed. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.
