Its quiet location and superb views across the bay add to  its unique appeal - dolphins can sometimes even be seen out in the bay direct from the cottage windows! The area is renowned for its wonderful sandy beaches and there is plenty to see and do all along this beautiful coast. There are lovely walks direct from the property and a number of excellent cycle paths, following coastal routes or further inland. A particularly spectacular route takes you over the Cullen viaduct with the sweeping sands below. Boat trips run from the nearby fishing village of Buckie and are highly recommended to view the sea life closer to hand. Dolphins and seals are regular visitors and the area is renowned for its wealth of sea birds and even the occasional whale has been spotted close to shore. There is plenty to see and do all along this lovely coast and the sandy beaches and rocky coves make it an ideal location for all ages. There are numerous castles and distilleries on the famous 'Whisky and Castle Trails'. In Findochty there is a pub/restaurant, local shop, post office and pharmacy. A bowling green, which is open to the public, along with an 18-hole golf course and driving range is a short distance away with a further 4 golf courses within a 10-mile radius of the village. Enjoy a coffee on the waterfront at Strathlene, approx 1 mile away and admire the stunning views across the Moray Firth. The pretty harbour with its small fishing boats and private craft is a real delight and a restaurant right on the front makes this an excellent venue for and evening meal or a lunch time snack overlooking the water. Fishing is also a popular pastime and there are a number of famous rivers all within 20 minutes drive, such as the Spey and the Deveron. Fishing permits are available locally. Sandchimes is also ideally located for exploring the two main Highland cities of Aberdeen and Inverness, being almost equidistant between them.
