North facing, the Lodge looks out to the Ben Ledi Hills in the distance and Ben Lomond is to the West.  French doors from the lounge lead out onto a lovely covered balcony area at the front. The main entrance is ramped and all ground floor rooms have wide door openings, light switches at waist height and the bathroom is large and spacious.  The Lodge has free use of the on-site Hot Tub, which is housed within a log cabin.  The Lodge sits in an open spacious grassy garden and is only a short walk from the on-site coffee shop.  There are lots of activities for every age and interests in this area.  For the adventurous is "Go Ape" in Aberfoyle (4 miles); a high wire forest adventure boasting the longest zip wire in Britain! or "Action Adventure Activities" (2 miles) offers 4 x 4 driving, quad biking and abseiling.  For the slightly less adrenaline hungry there are many lovely forest walks or cycle ways within the Queen Elizabeth Forest or enjoy the 3 Lochs Forest Drive.  The area has fantastic mountains to climb and you may be fortunate enough to spot an Osprey or Golden Eagle whilst you're out and about.  Aberfoyle has a 9 hole golf course and Lake Menteith and the numerous Lochs provide great opportunities for all year round fishing or water activities.  This central location has a rich history - find out about Rob Roy MacGregor - and is an excellent base to explore - visit Loch Lomond and discover its 38 islands!  The Glengoyne Distillery is only 8 miles South and Loch Katherine Steamship "Sir Walter Scott" is a great cruise.  Blair Drummond Safari Park is fun for all the family only a half hour drive away. Accommodation overview: An Caladh is a cosy, delightfully presented pied a terre in a quiet little backwater of south-west Scotland. This end of terrace bungalow has a warm and welcoming ambience allowing guests to feel instantly at home and quickly able to relax and unwind.  It is also the perfect property for exploring the diverse range of activities on offer in this much-loved corner of the country.  The area is blessed by a mild climate due to the influence of the Gulf Stream and its stunning and rugged coastline; lofty hills intercut by fish-rich rivers flowing through wooded valleys combine to make it a true and outstanding holiday destination. For Rabbie Burns fans the area couldn't be better as Ayrshire is the spiritual home of the man regarded as one of Scotland's greatest poets. He drew inspiration from its wild and dramatic landscapes, towns and villages and of course, its people. The Burns Heritage trail begins at his boyhood home in Alloway, south of Ayr and the Burns National Heritage Park provides an opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Tam o'Shanter to the Auld Kirk' and Brig o'Doon. Visitors can take an excursion on the last sea going paddle steamer in the world- 'The Waverley', or take the ferry to the beautiful Isle of Arran or Isle of Cumbrae for a truly memorable day out. Arran is regarded as one of the most beautiful islands in Europe. The scenery is glorious with rugged peaks in the North, the highest being Goat fell at 2866 ft, and green undulating hills and an abundance of pretty little villages in the south. It is a haven for those who love the beauty and splendour of the natural world. The Isle of Cumbrae boasts the smallest cathedral in Britain, an amazing array of wild flowers and its gentle roads are ideal for cycling. Those who prefer the reassuring feel of terra firma, should visit some of the amazing castles located in the area. The magnificent Culzean Castle for example, perched high on a wind-swept cliff top, is not to be missed and one could spend a day wandering and admiring the beautiful gardens including the picturesque little sandy cove of Carrick. The area is a paradise for golfing enthusiasts with Open Championship standard courses at Royal Troon. Turnberry and Prestwick. The friendly town of Ayr is less than 20 miles away. The local racecourse plays host to the Scottish Grand National and the coastline has a lovely beach with views across to the stunning Isle of Arran. Dumfries House in south west Ayrshire is one of Britain's most beautiful stately homes and best kept heritage secrets. The house has been described as an 18th century time capsule since the principal rooms and contents have remained virtually unchanged for 250 years.  By way of contrast, the nearby city of Glasgow offers an abundance of cultural pursuits not to mention some first class shopping!
