Whaley Bridge has a number of pubs and restaurants and is only 1 and ½ miles away, and offers a unique canal basin with some lovely walks taking in the surrounding countryside. The Hope Valley including Castleton with its caves and quaint shops, Edale with the start of the Pennine Way is close by and has a number of village pubs serving good wholesome food, Edale also has its own railway station for easy access around the valley. There are many interesting attractions for families including: Alton Towers, Ashbourne market town, Lyme Park near Disley, Chatsworth Park and House, Haddon Hall and gardens. Home to Concorde and many other aircraft the Museum of Flight (9 miles) is well worth exploring and at the Seabird Centre at North Berwick visitors can watch the puffins nesting on Bass Rock or gannets diving into the sea.
