Accommodation overview: Bramble Cottage is located on the Isle of Cumbrae; one of the smallest islands close to the North Ayreshire coastline. The island is only 4 miles long and 1.5 miles wide. This beautifully presented detached house sits on the fringe of a new development and has a lovely open view over farmland from the front of the house. Downstairs has under floor heating, with oak flooring. The lounge has a large, comfortable corner sofa and lovely bay window to enjoy watching the sun setting. French doors lead from the lounge into a separate dining room. The kitchen is large and spacious, with a family room to the side, both with patio doors leading out onto a decked area to the back of the property. The garden area here is grassy and fully enclosed by a fence. The first floor is carpeted and cosy, with spacious bedrooms. From the single rooms you glimpse the sea and from the double rooms you have a lovely view West across farmland. The garage can hold one car or alternatively be used as a play space with fold down table tennis. The village of Millport is within easy walking distance, it has small shops and hotels, with bars and restaurants. Millport is in the Guinness Book of Records for having "the house with the narrowest frontage in the world". There is also an 18th century building recorded as Europe's Smallest Cathedral. Isle of Cumbrae has only 11 miles of gentle roads make it very popular for cycling; bicycles be hired in the village. There are many low level walks around and across the island. The Glaidstone is the highest point on the island at 127 metres above sea level and a triangulation pillar is located on the hill. The local 18 hole golf course is only a quarter of a mile from Bramble Cottage on Golf Road. From the course you are provided with a stunning view over to the Isle of Bute, Arran and the upper Clyde estuary. The roads on Cumbrae skirt round the edges of the island meaning you are never far from the sea or accessing the coastline making water sports, kayaking or sea fishing very easy. This close proximately to the sea means great opportunities to spot seals, porpoises, basking sharks and numerous birds. Great Cumbrae Island is a delightful place to visit and explore. Accessed by 1/2 mile of private road from the main West Coast route south of Oban (4 miles away), this is an ideal peaceful location yet within easy reach of many activities and places of interest. Oban offers trips to the islands, a distillery, cinema and sports centre as well as extensive shopping. Sailing, diving, horse-riding, water sports, golf and tennis can all be arranged.
