The adjacent hotel restaurant is excellent and visitors will find good shops restaurants and a famous ice cream maker within a short stroll.

Accommodation overview: Muirdean is a detached cottage situated in its own lovely gardens overlooking Gruinard Bay on the stunning West Coast and the available accommodation occupies the whole of the ground floor. The cottage has bright, spacious rooms and is furnished and equipped to a high standard. The main lounge has large picture windows which look out across the adjoining Gruinard Bay to the Summer Isles beyond. The Dundonnell and An Teallach mountain ranges from a stunning backdrop. Completely enclosed and backing onto open hills, it is safe and secure for children and pets. The cottage is situated on a quiet no through road that leads to the quaint village of Mellon Udrigle, with its beautiful white sandy beach. There are numerous other beautiful sandy bays close by, including the renowned Gruinard Bay. There is a small jetty a few metres away from the cottage from which to launch small boats. Wildlife abounds in the area, and visitors can encounter dolphins, whales, sea eagles, golden eagles and an abundance of deer which roam the surrounding hills. The area is a walker's paradise, with superb hill and mountain walks suitable for all abilities. The sub tropical gardens of Inverewe, just 11 miles away, are well worth a visit. Fishing in loch, river and the sea are all popular pastimes. There are a variety of golf courses in the area and riding, mountain biking and a various water sports are all accessible locally. For a joint family holiday or for larger groups, this cottage can also be let with Kildonan Lower and Kildonan Upper, which are situated next door. Accommodation overview: Situated in elevated position overlooking the picturesque Poolewe bay, The Cottage enjoys magnificent seascape views from its large picture windows. All rooms are bright, spacious and beautifully presented and with three good sized bedrooms, and large lounge and kitchen/dining room it offers generous accommodation for four. The beautifully landscaped garden grounds are a real treat. Enclosed by mature hedging the gardens are laid out with lawns, shrubs and flower borders. The main garden enjoys superb sea and mountain views and there is also  a secluded, additional garden area (steep steps down to this area; toddlers beware!). This area of West Coast Highlands is renowned for its wonderful beaches and breathtaking scenery. Wildlife abounds and otters, seals, whales and a myriad of bird life can be seen locally; it is a real bird watcher's paradise. Noted for its temperate climate and warmed by the waters of the Gulf Stream, an exceptional variety of plants flourish here. The sub tropical gardens of Inverewe situated here are simply stunning and offer visitors a memorable day out. The pretty village of Poolewe has excellent local amenities, all within easy walking distance, including restaurants, cafe, shop and pub, and even a swimming pool. The surrounding area offers a wealth of activities and places of interest. There is a superb 18 hole golf course, pony trekking, cycling, (bike hire available locally), fishing in loch, sea and river, as well as the opportunity for hill walking and climbing in some of the most spectacular mountain scenery to be found anywhere in the Highlands. Close by is the Ben Eighe nature reserve in the heart of the spectacular Torridon mountains. It has walks and climbs for all abilities as well as some lovely picnic areas. Along the coast there are a variety of water sports and boat trips. The nearby village of Gairloch also has superb beaches, interesting small shops, cafes and restaurants as well as whale watching boat trips that run from the harbour.
