Accommodation overview: Talmine is a small hamlet, one of several in this peaceful fishing and crofting community which look north east across the picturesque Tongue Bay. This traditional stone croft house is in a beautiful situation on the clifftops and has the best views in the village to the Rabbit Isles and along the North Coast. Visitors come here to enjoy the peace and quiet as well as the warm welcome from the friendly locals. Talmine village has a beautiful sandy beach with a harbour and jetty - the rocky outcrop that forms part of the harbour is studded with black and ruby garnets. Shops and hotels can be found in the pretty village of Tongue only three miles away. Boat trips to the Rabbit Islands are popular for good diving and for picnics on the beautiful sheltered beach there. This is an ideal base for touring along both the North and West coasts. The local area is packed with history and many interesting landmarks to visit. The cottage is comfortably furnished and well equipped. Parking on the driveway leading to cottage. Surrounded by the magnificent scenery of the Sutherland Highlands Shin Cottage (shown left) adjoins another property under half a mile from village shops restaurants and pubs whilst the towns of Alness Bonar Bridge and Dornoch (20 miles) are all within easy reach as are the city of Inverness and Dunrobin Castle. This is a wonderful area for golf (6 courses within 30 minutes' drive); mountain biking is popular and fishing is enjoyed on the River Shin as well as on the loch where boat hire is available.

Enjoy the peace and quiet, watch the birds and other wildlife and take in the spectacular scenery of this remote and beautiful area north west of Lochinver and the Inverpolly Nature Reserve. Accommodation overview: Harvest Cottage is a quintessential village cottage. Built of sandstone, with whitewashed walls and deep silled windows, it sits on the edge of the village green in the pretty hamlet of Fearn in the beautiful county of Ross-Shire. The cottage has been lovingly and painstakingly restored by its owners. The accommodation on the ground floor is all open plan. A bright, modern kitchen/ dining area leads through to a lovely lounge, dominated by a beautiful fireplace constructed from the original sandstone, with multi fuel stove creating a superb focal point French doors open out to the front which leads directly onto the pretty village green with traditional village pub on the far side. The solid wood staircase leads up to bright and airy modern bedrooms. From the landing there are amazing views across the open countryside to the Moray Firth beyond. The small hamlet of Fearn is situated just 10 minutes from some of the most stunning beaches in the Highlands. Nearby Shandwick bay is renowned for its beautiful golden sands and safe shallow bathing. The pretty fishing village of Portmahomack also has a lovely beach as well as a pub, cafe and a renowned fish restaurant. The owner of Harvest Cottage is a fisherman and would be delighted to take visitors on fishing trips in his boat. Mackerel, halibut, skate and cod are all caught locally and fresh crab and lobster can also be obtained. This area is also close to the Moray Firth, famous for its resident Bottle nosed dolphins that are regularly seen and boat trips to view the dolphins, seals and vast array of seabirds close to hand are available nearby. The pretty coastal towns and fishing villages dotted around this part of the coast are particularly charming, with small harbours, quaint cottages and unspoilt coastline. There is also a small ferry that runs across the Cromarty Firth from Nigg from June to October. The nearby town of Dornoch is delightful, with its 13th century Cathedral, sandstone cottages, old town jail, attractive small shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes. Royal Dornoch is also famous for its championship golf course and award winning beach, with miles of golden sand. Just a few miles further north is Dunrobin Castle, seat of the Dukes of Sutherland. With its stunning gardens modelled on Versailles and its fascinating history it offers a memorable day out There is also a wealth of sporting activities right on the doorstep, including golf, fishing, horse-riding, hill walking, sailing, canoeing and mountain biking. Harvest Cottage provides a perfect base for exploring the whole of the Highland region; it is only 40 minutes from Inverness, the Highland capital city. Property has oil central heating.
