Accommodation overview: The Lodge is a delightful property - its timber-clad exterior offers no hint of the superb traditional-style cottage that lies within. The French windows lead into the stunning open-plan interior. This main room is bright and spacious, with high vaulted ceilings, deep window sills lined with solid elm and impeccably presented throughout; it oozes charm, luxury and cosiness in equal measure. The double bedroom with king-size oak bed and modern bathroom with double shower complete the picture. Set in its own garden grounds with stunning views of hills, mountains, river and sea; it offers an ideal location for that get-away-from-it-all holiday or honeymoon location. It is situated down a short track which leads onto the shore-line below. Fish from the rocks or explore the small inlets along this pretty coastline. The area is a walkers' paradise, with hills, mountains and coastal walks direct from the property. This spectacular region, known as Trotternish, is rich in natural places of interest. The magnificent Kilt Rock waterfall is just 2 miles away. The Old Man of Storr and the amazing Quiraing mountain range dominate the region's dramatic skyline. This is a truly superb location for climbing, walking, sea kayaking, pony trekking, and fishing and for just relaxing and enjoying the total peace and tranquillity of this beautiful and unspoilt area. There are a number of small islands just off the coast (the isle of Rhona can be seen from the cottage) and small local boats will take you to view the seals in the bay, to picnic on the islands or to try your hand at a spot of sea-fishing. This is also eagle territory and sea and golden eagles are regularly spotted. The pretty harbour town of Portree, just 13 miles away, offers an excellent selection of small shops, restaurants and some of the best seafood to be found anywhere in Britain. A day trip to the Outer Isles of Lewis and Harris is available from Uig, approximately 10 miles away. Ancient castles, unspoilt beaches and the famous Cuillin Mountains all add to the magic of the beautiful Isle of Skye. Accommodation overview: The Hollows is a delightful single storey cottage set in its own garden grounds that lead directly onto the water's edge of Loch Snizort. The cottage is stylishly presented with bright, modern furniture, a lovely feature open fireplace in the lounge and large kitchen/dining room that looks out across the gardens to the sea loch beyond. A pretty burn runs through the garden grounds that surround the property and two gates open onto the shoreline below. Loch Snizort is a tidal sea loch and at low tide there is a super walk across the bay to the hills on the far side. Fishing from the bank or shore adjoining the cottage is an idyllic way to unwind and relax and there are superb walks direct from the property. Situated in the pretty hamlet of Kensaleyre, just 7 miles equidistant between Portree, the 'capital' of Skye, and Uig, the sea port to the Outer Hebrides, it offers peace and tranquillity, yet it's easy accessibility for exploring the whole of this beautiful and enigmatic Isle. Portree is the epitome of a picturesque fishing village. Brightly painted cottages cluster round the active harbour where some of the finest fish restaurants can be found. This bustling, atmospheric town boasts an excellent selection of interesting local shops, together with bars, restaurants and cafes. There is also a swimming pool and leisure centre. Boat trips run from Portree harbour to encounter the local sea life close to hand, including rare sea eagles, which nest in the area. Accommodation overview: With spectacular views of mountains and sea, Beinnedra Cottage is situated in the heart of the Trotternish region of North Skye an area renowned for its walking, climbing and wonderful coastline. The bright, modern accommodation is attached to the owners house yet enjoys its own privacy with separate entrance and attractive patio gardens for visitors sole use. The owners also run a Bed and Breakfast in the adjoining property and would be very happy to offer accommodation on this basis to extra visitors to Beinnedra Cottage. They can also provide a full Scottish cooked breakfast to guests in the cottage should they so wish. This single storey cottage is presented to a high standard throughout, with solid wood flooring, beautifully co-ordinated soft furnishings and incredible views across the sea to the Torridon Mountains beyond. Known as the Trotternish Peninsula this area is famous for its amazing sand and limestone rock formations jutting out into the skyline from the rocks below. With the Quiraing mountain range, the Old Man of Storr and the Kilt Rock waterfall close by it offers breathtaking scenery. The Jurassic cliffs along the shoreline are also famed in the archaeological world for dinosaur remains and their footprints have been discovered all along this dramatic coastline. Accommodation overview: Delightfully situated overlooking the bay on the beautiful Sleat peninsular, Aird House is a 300 year old stone cottage set in its own pretty garden grounds. The cottage has been in the same family for over 200 years and the current family owners have had it lovingly restored whilst retaining its unique olde world charm, including two foot thick stone walls and tiny cottage staircase. It oozes warmth and cosy-ness. It is thought to be the oldest house in the pretty village of Aird and was once the residence of the Clan Donald Factor. The Sleat Peninsular is known as 'the garden of Skye'; this southern end of this beautiful Isle is renowned for its pretty landscape, lovely coastline and miles of stunning scenery. The cottage overlooks open countryside sloping down to the sea. Armadale Castle, seat of the Clan Donald, with its superb gardens and grounds set in 20,000 acres, also houses a fascinating museum and is just 4 miles away. Boat trips to see the seals, dolphins and whales run from Armadale harbour. The ferry also sails from here across to Mallaig on the mainland. The Sleat peninsular is an ideal holiday base for the nature lover, surrounded by superb walking, climbing, bird watching and beautiful fauna and flora. It also offers easy access to a wealth of historical sites and places of interest. The fairy tale castle of Eilean Donan, the sea port of Kyle of Lochalsh, the otter centre at Kyleakin, numerous distilleries and ancient historical sites are all within easy reach. Although this property does accept one pet, there is a kennels just 1/2 mile from the property if you want to bring more than one. One of its unique features is its turf roof; a form of roofing that was prevalent in Viking times and even predates thatch. Nearby places of interest include a fascinating museum of island life, Flora MacDonald's grave, Duntulm castle, iron-age ring and a wee 'fun' museum of local interest - definitely worth a visit! The surrounding area is truly spectacular and an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. The amazing Quiraing mountain range with its dramatic rock formations formed from a combination of volcanic rock and limestone, the Old Man of Storr, the magnificent Kilt Rock waterfall are all within close proximity. The Whitewave Outdoor centre is close by and offers a range of outdoor pursuits including kayaking, sailing and guided walks and climbs across the hills and mountain paths. The pretty fishing port of Uig is just 5 miles away. It has a number of excellent pubs and restaurants, a local bakery, pottery and is also the home of the Isle of Skye brewery. From Uig one can take a day ferry trip to the Outer Isles. The island's 'capital', Portree, with its picturesque harbour crammed full of fishing boats, encircled by brightly painted cottages and restaurants is just 30 minutes away.
