Accommodation overview: Alder Cottage is a delightful single storey cottage set in its own private garden grounds amidst stunning scenery just 5 miles from the Isle of Skye. Once a traditional croft cottage the property has undergone a complete transformation and extension and now offers bright and spacious accommodation in a spectacular Highland setting. The large picture windows drink in the amazing views of hills and mountains. The spacious lounge has a feature open fireplace made from local Applecross stone that acts a focal point. A good sized kitchen / dining room in the new extension looks out across the lovely gardens that surround the property . There is also a superb old stone barn in the grounds which has been beautifully converted into a games room with a variety of activities provided, including table tennis, snooker and darts. Alder Cottage is situated in a quiet no-through road that meanders through the hills, over a small bridge with tumbling burn and onto Avernish, the historic site of a clearance village; there are superb walks direct from the cottage. It is easily accessible and just a few minutes drive to the Isle of Skye and to some of the most dramatic and amazing scenery in the whole of the Western Highlands.

Accommodation overview: A detached single storey cottage with a large garden, set back from the road which leads down the hill into the little village of Stromeferry. These are some of the most beautiful scenic surroundings to be found in the Highlands and there are lovely panoramic views from the cottage and the garden to Loch Carron and the hills beyond. Stromeferry has a launching slipway for visitors who wish to bring a boat, and a small railway station. There is no shop, but just 5 miles away is the picturesque resort of Plockton and a wider choice of shops will be found in Kyle of Lochalsh, 9 miles to the south west. The cottage dates from 1927, rooms are bright, sunny and comfortably furnished. This is a very peaceful spot, perfect for relaxing 'away from it all' and enjoying the clear air and unpolluted night sky. Stromeferry is also a good starting point for touring - north to Lochcarron, Applecross and Torridon, or south west to Kyle and across the bridge to the Isle of Skye.
