Accommodation overview: This detached house is surrounded by 50 acres of woodland, home to red deer and numerous other wildlife, and makes for the perfect secluded holiday setting. A sparkling trout stream babbles through the gardens on its way to the sea at Heddons Mouth. Walkers will be in their element with some lovely countryside walks directly from the property including a gentle stroll through the valley to the nearby Hunters Inn which is renowned for its lovely food. There is much to see and do in the area and you can enjoy the sweeping sands of Woolacombe, Putsborough, Croyde and Saunton, ranked among the finest beaches in Europe. Fringed by cliffs and sand dunes, and studded with rock pools, these golden beaches offer a range of activities, from bucket and spade fun to surfing and water sports. There are attractions to suit all tastes which include National Trust Arlington Court, Watermouth Castle, Exmoor Zoological Gardens, Combe Martin Dinosaur Park and much more. Leisure facilities: direct access from the lounge to the 30' indoor swimming pool (occasionally used by owner by arrangement), family sized hot tub, shower room, WC and changing room. Stroll the gardens sited by the stream. The accommodation offers TWO bedrooms: 1 open-plan double leading 3 steps up from the lounge area with spiral staircase leading off to the downstairs double bedroom with bunk beds. Bathroom: with shower over bath and WC also on the lower level. There is also outside access from this floor. Lounge/kitchen/diner: large with Sky TV, DVD, wood burner, double sofa bed and pool table. Kitchen area off the lounge/diner, equipped with cooker, washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave. Direct access from lounge to swimming pool. Outside: patio with seating, use of gardens, and large trampoline available. Amenities: ample parking. The gun which was supposedly used to repel the ‘Doones’ still hangs in the farmhouse to this day. The farm once had its own mill and the old water wheel can still be seen. Two traditional barns in the courtyard of the farm have been sympathetically converted to offer a very high standard of accommodation throughout.
Yenworthy is ideal for walkers - a rugged pathway leads from the farm down to a secluded beach and there is direct access to one of the most scenic sections of the South West Coast Path. There are 13 miles of footpaths to explore on the farm itself and it even has its own historic monument - an old Roman Fort at Old Burrow. A haven for wildlife, it has four Sites of Special Scientific Interest and rare species of butterflies and trees. The nearest sandy beach is Lee Abbey (5 miles) and there are excellent surfing beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton within easy driving distance. There are three pubs with restaurants within 3 miles and plenty of shops in Lynton and Lynmouth (4 miles), Polock (7 miles), Minehead (13 miles) and Barnstaple (21 miles), which also has a popular covered market. Blackmore’s wild Doone Country. Boasting its own secluded terrace area, which is perfect for outdoor wining and dining, visitors can choose to relax, explore the thousand-acre estate or stroll down beside the stream to the nearby Staghunters Inn in Brendon. A haven for any wildlife enthusiast, it stands above herb-rich south-facing slopes that are designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Exmoor Natural History Centre is close by, with the Exmoor Zoological and Bossington Wildlife Parks further afield.
