Accommodation overview: Just a short drive from the North Cornish Coast in a truly peaceful location, this grand, detached farmhouse commands an imposing position surrounded by pretty gardens and rolling countryside. The historic village of Stratton is just ¼ mile with its lovely church, attractive inns and village shop. Bude, 2 miles, sits dramatically, perched high on the North Cornish Coast. Accommodation overview: In a splendid position in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and just a mile from a sandy beach, this large comfortable farmhouse stands in its own enclosed garden, with a path leading down into a beautiful wooded valley, 10 acres of which belong to the owner. The house, retaining much of its original 1920s’ character, is spacious and comfortable, with wonderful views over the valley below and plenty of storage space for surfboards and bicycles, making it an ideal holiday base for a large family group. For nature lovers, the area provides plentiful opportunities for wildlife watching. Roe deer and badgers may sometimes be seen from the house and there are owls and many other species of birds, as well as seals to be seen on the coast. Just a mile away is Crackington Haven with its sandy beach and rock pools, ideal for both children and the young at heart to while away the hours. This part of Cornwall has a majestic coastline and rich associations with the legends of King Arthur. A short walk from the house leads to the North Cornwall Coast Path and the spectacular cliffs at Strangles Beach (NT), a steep climb but well worth the effort. Six miles away is the picturesque fishing village of Boscastle with its dramatic harbour set between black cliffs. Further along the coast lies Tintagel (9 miles), said to be the site of King Arthur’s castle and now bearing the splendid ruins of a 12th-century castle set high on the cliffs with the sea crashing against the rocks below. Located close to a main road, Oeston Park is just a short walk from Bude town centre and all its amenities. The setting on the main Holsworthy to Bude road is very convenient for exploring this delightful corner of North Cornwall. As well as shops, inns, restaurants and its Historical and Folk Museum, Bude has three large sandy beaches popular with surfers (with lifeguard patrol in summer), one with a very large sea-water swimming pool. Its sports facilities include a superb 18-hole golf course, tennis and squash courts, Splash leisure centre and ten pin bowling. Delightful walking can be found nearby on the picturesque North Cornwall Coastal Footpath, and also along the towpath of Bude’s canal (the Planekeepers Path) – 3 miles of quiet level walking of special interest to wildlife and birdlife lovers which begins ½ mile from the property and leads to Summerleaze Beach in Bude. Fishing is also available in the canal (some of the finest coarse fishing waters in the west). Further afield, but within easy driving distance, are the historic coastal villages of Boscastle, Tintagel, Hartland Quay and Clovelly.
